This traditional karakia acknowledges and gives thanks for the food provided and the natural world that sustains us. It is a great way to pause, give thanks and incorporate tikanga Māori in an appropriate way.  Use this print at home, kura, or wherever you share kai. 

Translation:
Welcome the gifts of food,
from the sacred forests,
from the cultivated gardens,
from the sea,
from the fresh waters,
The food of Tane,
of Rongo,
of Tangaroa,
of Maru,
I acknowledge Ranginui (the sky father) who is above me,
Papatūānuku (the earth mother) who lies beneath me,
Let this be my commitment to all!
